answers the Usual Questions

Michele is a science fiction/fantasy writer who is proof that fan fiction writers do sometimes take their egos in their hands and go pro.

Has your interaction with fans, for example, at conventions, affected your work?

Not that I've been anywhere in regards to my own writing, but I am thrilled every time I get an email from someone who enjoyed the stories.

Is there any particular incident (a letter, a meeting, a comment that stands out?

I did accidentally meet someone who was enjoying an old story I wrote under the pseudonym Batela for Xfiles fandom, and was surprised at how happy she was to discover that I was the one who wrote that story. It was a strange sensation, but the ego-strokes were great!

Do you have a favourite author or book (or writer or film or series) that has influenced you or that you return to?

Heinlein, McCaffrey, Eddings, MZ Bradley, Clarke.

Who is the person you would most like to be trapped in a lift with? or a spaceship?

Stephen King.

Who is the person you would most DISlike to be trapped in a lift with? Or a spaceship?

Can't think of any. I try and accept people as they are, not how I want them to be.

What would you pack for space? (Is there a food, beverage, book, teddy bear, etc that you couldn't do without?)

My laptop.

What is the most important thing you would like to get/achieve from your work?

Just to know that other people are enjoying my stories.

What is the special satisfaction of your work?

Getting it out of my head and onto paper. So to speak.
