The Losers (2010) movie review

Comic Book Commandos

space

A U.S. specialist armed forces team deviates from the script of a black op, saving their lives, but leaving them outside the U.S. and legally dead.

After surviving with low-paying jobs and low-life amusements they are offered by a beautiful martial woman the chance to return to the U.S. and bring down the person who cut them lose.

"You know, if we do this we are waging war against the C.I.A."
"They started it."

The Losers is the latest action flick that was born in the pages of comic books. The content is pure surface -- loud, fastish, violent, with the occasional pause for some knee-jerk character sketches (which is not the same as characterisation).

The style is all graphic novel - freeze frames and stylised storyboarding - and the entire film is firmly targetted to the graphic novel readership.
