Welcome to Woop Woop movie review

Welcome to Woop Woop

From the makers of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, a young man finds himself in a remote Australian town whose existence is unknown to the rest of the world. Sort of Australian Brigadoon, maybe?

A carefree young woman captures a man's heart with her lack of inhibitions and whole hearted introduction to the ocean. He follows her back to her outback home only to discover that his new love is an equally enthusiastic butcher in a town whose main cultural activities are making dog food and audience-participation musicals.

It is a science fiction premise that many would see as a comedy drama, but it becomes sf because it is about the technology of a society -- about the rules that have to be instituted to protect themselves from inbreeding and outside contacts.

This film requires a strong stomach and a ability to cope with extremely broad satire.
